Holiday in Cambodja

Estranhamente, "Holiday in Cambodja" dos Dead Kennedys é uma das músicas de esquerda mais anticomunistas da história. É estranho, pois, Jello Biafra, o vocalista e letrista da banda é notoriamente um "american liberal". Para se ter uma idéia, em 1979 ele concorreu ao cargo de prefeito de São Francisco e um dos pontos de sua plataforma era que todo empresário seria obrigado a se vestir de palhaço (Biafra terminou em 4º lugar na eleição, diga-se).
Outras canções dos Dead Kennedys já entregam o viés "pinko" de suas crenças: "Let's lynch the landlord", "Kill the poor", "Government Flu". Então, "Holiday in Cambodja" - letra que supostamente criticava o modo de vida dos EUA em comparação ao regime bacaninha de Pol Pot - com o tempo acabou perdendo a ironia e se tornando uma letra que retrata muito bem um regime comunista. Ah, as ironias da vida.
